We have a lot of young professionals here, so about half the high priests group is probably under 40. I can't imagine being active here and being an Elder over 60. It just wouldn't happen.

I believe grace is the best kept secret in the gospel. It inclines me to find a church that teaches it.Bob Dixonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01011901559691393063noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26195116.post-1147360672632214942006-05-11T08:17:00.000-07:002006-05-11T08:17:00.000-07:00Christfollower, You are not alone. He had an addiction to prescription drugs about 20 years ago. I think for this reason he wasn't made a High Priest until about 2 years ago. He is in his early sixties. His former bishop told him just to attend the High Priests quorum, even if he was an Elder. It took my parents moving into another ward and 2 bishops in the new ward before he was actually "called" to be a High Priest. Now he is the Group Leader. When I was young the biggest calling he ever had was in the Sunday School Presidency. Now that's the kind of calling I could deal with (2nd Counselor in the Sunday School Presidency). You can and do get labeled in your wards and this is NOT what the Gospel of Christ is about. I am sorry for your experience, you're not alone. Only some Saints seem to be chosen and it doesn't seem to be based on a persons relationship with Christ. It seems to be based on the appearance of perfection. We are saved by grace and I don't think most of us realize how lucky we are that we have Christ. I think we fall into the trap spoken of in Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace we are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any should boast."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
